The Challenge
Authority Logistics Solutions, a third-party logistics provider serving the hospitality, healthcare, store fixture, and restaurant industries, approached the TD MASH development team with the need for a highly specialized and sophisticated enterprise-level application.
Authority believed that, with limited resources and a minimal staff, a web-based application could manage most of the logistics process for a massive construction project, provide real-time data sharing, and allow the company to become rapidly competitive in a market that normally requires expensive proprietary systems and hundreds of employees.
The tools they envisioned needed to estimate, manage, track, and invoice the purchase, shipment, and warehousing of materials, furnishings, and equipment for the construction and renovation of hotels, restaurants, retail stores, and hospitals.
The application also needed to bridge the gap between users across four otherwise unrelated industries: corporate management, manufacturing suppliers, freight carriers, and warehousing. It had to provide all of them with access to coordinate purchase-order imports, schedule shipments and deliveries, manage storage, track individual supplies, and obtain reports and invoices.
Each of these industries follows strict rules and complicated procedures. Authority needed the application to accommodate and respect all of them, and they knew they had to get it right the first time to succeed.
